FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, FEBRUARY 05, 2020:
Public Works Department herbicide application schedule
CAVE CREEK – In the Town’s ongoing efforts to reduce fire risk by managing invasive weeds, the Cave Creek Public Works Department is continuing to apply herbicide to town-owned properties and rights-of-way.
Residents can expect the application of herbicides by the Cave Creek Public Works Department on Thursday, Feb. 6, and Friday Feb. 7. The spraying will take place along Spur Cross Road, especially in low-visibility areas around curbs. Also, the shoulders of Carefree Highway between Cave Creek Road and 48th Street will be treated.
The herbicides the Town is using to combat Stinknet/Globe Chamomile and other invasive plants, which threaten the Sonoran Deserts fragile ecosystem and become a fire risk when dried out, are Ranger Pro and Pendulum 3.3 EC. The herbicide contains a yellow dye that marks where the chemicals were applied.
The Town of Cave Creek wants to make residents aware so people with sensitivities to herbicides can take any necessary precautions for themselves or their animals.
For anyone who would like more details about these herbicides, the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) can be viewed or downloaded online.
