Fire Safety Permit Needed for All Spark Generating Activity: Welding, Grinding, Open Flames...

Fire Safety Permit Needed for All outdoor spark generating activities to include welding & grinding

Familiarize with Cave Creek Stage I and Stage II Restrictions

November 2, 2020 the Town of Cave Creek updated its Stage I and Stage II Fire Restrictions. With ongoing drought and increased fuels, such as invasive weeds, fires within the Town limits in 2020 taught us that the threat of fires is on the rise and they’ve come too close to home. Structures were lost in the Ocotillo fire and the Town of Cave Creek is engaging you to aid in the protection against the outbreak and spread of future fires.

Spark generating activities encompass (but are not limited to) welding, grinding, braising, cutting steel, fireworks, the ignition of model rockets, and the use of flames in outdoor areas such as flame-based weed removal and wood burning for cooking or campfires.

Currently, Cave Creek is under Stage Two Fire Restrictions: permits are needed for all open-flame and spark-generating activities. Know Cave Creek’s Stage I and Stage II Fire Restrictions:

Stage II Fire Restrictions:

Under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions Town Permits are Required for:

All Outdoor Spark-generating activities (which include but are not limited to):

                                    Cutting Steel

Under Stage II Fire Restrictions the following are prohibited:

         Ignition driven model rockets

         Firework Displays
         Flame-based weed removal is prohibited.

Tiki torches or other devices that emit a flame
Wood burning outdoors for cooking, warming, or campfires or the use of charcoal is prohibited.

Smoking outside near combustible ground cover or beyond designated smoking areas.

Current Building Permits:  must call for and pass an inspection of the area prior to undertaking any spark generating activities outside of an enclosed structure. Spark generating activities include (but are not limited to): welding, grinding, braising, cutting steel.

How to Request a Permit:

To obtain a permit for pyrotechnics, open flames, and other spark-related or hazardous activities please visit the Town’s Fire Safety section of the website and look for the Fire Code Operational Permit Application in the left-side navigation bar or come to Town Hall to retrieve the permit application by hand.

Know the Danger:

The Current National Fire Rating and Cave Creek Fire Restrictions are posted physically in Town in three places: Cave Creek Rd and Stage Coach Pass, Cave Creek Rd and Galloway Rd, 26th Street and Joy Ranch Rd. They’re also posted on the Town’s website which you can link to from the home page (look for the campfire icon). Please learn and familiarize yourselves with these restrictions and support the effort to prepare our communities against the outbreak and spread of wildfires this season.
