R2005-09 AUTHORIZING PRELIMINARY STEPPS TO BE TAKEN TO BECOME A PARTICIPATING EMPLOYER IN THE PUBLIC SAFETY PERSONNEL RETIREMENT SYSTEM ON BEHALF OF THE FULL-TIME PAID POLICE OFFICERS WHO ARE CERTIFIED PEACE OFFICERS AND WHO ARE OR WERE REGULARLY ASSIGNED TO HAZARDOUS DUTY IN THE STATE OF ARIZONA AND OF THE TOWN OF CAVE CREEK

Narrative:  This is a request for Council to discuss and possibly approve a resolution that authorizes the Town to go forward with the process to become a participating employer in the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System.

R2005-10 AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER, TOWN CLERK AND TOWN ATTORNEY OF THE TOWN OF CAVE CREEK TO CONDUCT ALL NEGOTIATIONS, CONCLUDE ALL ARRANGEMENTS AND SIGN ALL AGREEMENTS AND MODIFICATION OF AGREEMENTS WHICH MAY BE NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT THE INTENT OF THE AGREEMENT TO ESTABLISH A RETIREMENT PLAN FOR ALL ELIGIBLE OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE ARIZONA STATE RETIREMENT SYSTEM

Narrative:  This is a request for Council to discuss and possibly approve a resolution that authorizes the Town to go forward with establishing a retirement plan for all of its eligible officers and employees to be administered by the Arizona State Retirement System.

4.         DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION NO. R2005-11 AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE TOWN MANAGER, TOWN CLERK AND TOWN ATTORNEY TO CONDUCT ALL NEGOTIATIONS, CONCLUDE ALL ARRANGEMENTS AND SIGN ALL INSTRUMENTS WHICH MAY BE NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT THE INTENT OF THE PLAN TO EXTEND TO THE TOWN OF CAVE CREEK EMPLOYEES THE BENEFITS OF TITLE II OF THE FEDERAL SOCIAL SECURITY ACT UPON THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS PROVIDED IN THE PLAN.

Narrative:  This is a request for the Council to consider and, if deemed advisable, to adopt a resolution establishing the Town’s participation in the Federal Social Security plan for its employees. This is a requirement for municipalities that are participating in the Arizona State Retirement System.
